Living Metal, my android murder-mystery pilot, has been nominated for an AWGIE Award, in the Monte Miller Category for ‘Best Unproduced Screenplay’. The AWGIEs are Australia’s top screenwriting award, so it’s very exciting to be nominated.

The winner is announced on September 11th in Sydney, and the full list of candidates is here.

My short-story ‘The Other-Faced Lamb’ has been published in Australia’s foremost speculative fiction magazine, Aurealis.

It was inspired by a couple of things, but mainly a news story I read about pelicans dying by the thousands when their lake ran dry. As I was writing it, I came across a Daily Mail article about a lamb that had been born with a face that looked human, which I thought was just the creepiest thing imaginable, and which became an integral part of the story.

So… if you like strange stories about cults, the Outback and deformed lambs, then this is the story for you! It can be purchased here.

I’m happy to announce that I’m one of the writers that’s just been added to the AWG’s Pathways Program for aspiring Australian screenwriters. To quote the AWG, the aim of Pathways is to “showcase scripts that our experienced members uncover while judging competitions and consider to have high potential for production.”

The full list of new Pathways members can be seen here.
